Upstate Artist Collective

Statement

Ani Jillian (Tachdjian)
Artistic director of the Upstate Artist Collective over twenty years ago started collaborating with artists and poets bringing their gifts to share in alternative spaces. Art in public spaces makes it accessible to all and can be viewed frequently. The space carefully chosen to serve as a home environment with warmth and ambiance included for all as you might find when welcomed in Ani's home.

Ani's participation in this process is to continue her love for art by sharing it with others and to nurture the artist where alternative spaces can exhibit their art. This brings art into everyday life.

Ani Jillian has for over twenty years dedicated her best wishes to this goal.

Current Exhibition
Bank Of America
Woodstock NY

April 2-31 2017

The human spirit reflects in all art thru individual expression the mirrors of the mystery and beauty of the soul, thru truth and understanding of our connection to one another.
My goal to curate this exhibition was to partake in sharing with the public a time of remembrance in Armenian history, the date April 1915.
I wanted to share this Armenian lineage with fellow Armenian artists. My purpose is to show that art sings with life thru individual expressions and is the opposite of destruction that comes with hate. In all times of world drama it is in peace that we find the gift for all humanity to live together in harmony.
The beauty and all creation of life reflects in all our hearts and we share with you our pieces in this exhibition.
Thank you,
Ani Jillian-Weiss

Steven Weiss and Peter Occhiogrosso

The Allure Gallery

47 East Market St, 2nd floor, Rhinebeck. 845-876-7774

Steven Weiss and Peter Occhiogrosso, both Woodstock artists, have different ways of engaging recognizable subjects while exploring the essence of what lies below the surface. Their search takes them outside the realm of the representational into a world where images of nature or humanity are joined by biomorphic forms and explosions of color. Each in his own way seeks to bring viewers within the field of the painting, immersing them in the moment of discovery. Above all they are projecting their emotional response acknowledging the physical reality of natural objects or human forms while extracting an inner spirit that can be more real than any objective rendering.
